Should you start a blog?

Today, starting a blog is one of the easiest and most accessible ways to start your own business and earn an income online (from anywhere in the world). The best? It is not necessary to be a professional writer to start a blog.

Because people who read blogs crave the most reliable and conversational accents of a blogger. You do not need any experience in your field or school degree to start a blog and succeed with it.

In fact, you can start blogging regardless of your age, location and experience level. If you have any of these goals, then you should consider blogging a lot:

As we move forward in 2020, millions of people around the world are turning to making money from home instead of getting 9 to 5 jobs. If you do it correctly, blogs can be one of the most profitable online businesses with very little cost.

And the best part is that the few hours you have to write a blog post today can make you money in the long run. You don’t need to blog full time. Even part-time bloggers can get good six-figure numbers every year from their blogs, as I have done for many years.

A commercial or personal brand is growing. If you already have a business that expects to grow, then starting a blog is the best way to attract more customers online, or even a penny in your storefront ad.

I have helped dozens of small business owners write blog content that brings hundreds of new readers (potential customers) to your website every day. And if you want to get your personal brand in a one-day contract.

And be a paid speaker or consultant, blogs are a great way to show your leadership in your field. Once you start blogging to develop your business or personal brand, you will never want to come back.

And then let’s look at this simple tutorial. 8 simple steps to start a blog in 2020 (and earn money). Now, let’s go to the first step of how to start a blog for beginners.

Choose the name of your blog

First, it is time to choose a name for your new blog. The name of your blog is what readers will see first (like yourname.com), so it should represent some common topics, such as what you are writing about, or it could be your own name, your business.

An intelligent combination of words, or otherwise. If you don’t have enough ideas to name your blog at this time, you can jump here for more tips on how to choose the right name.

By choosing the name of your blog here, you will also choose a blog platform and web hosting to put your blog online. The combination of blogging platform and web hosting that I personally use..

And that other bloggers use) is a WordPress blog, hosted by Bluehost. WordPress is a publishing platform that exists since 2003. And now allows more than 60% of all blogs on the Internet.

Bluehost is one of the oldest companies in the blog hosting industry. We are using this combination to start blogging in this guide.

Disclosure: Please note that when I buy accommodation using my Bluehost affiliate link, they give me compensation, which helps me create this free guide to start a blog, as well as for you for free.

It is the rate. Note that I also use Bluehost hosting, and I would never recommend a product, tool or service that I personally do not use and defend

So, let’s start choosing the name of our blog. Click to Bluehost and press the green button “Start now”. How to start a blog in 8 easy steps with Bluehost web hosting (screenshot of the home page).

Choose your plan

First, you will choose a hosting plan (the name of your blog appears below). Remember, web hosting is the service that really puts your blog online and keeps it live on the Internet. Personally.

I recommend choosing the Choice Plus plan, as it comes with domain privacy, which will protect your personal information (your full name, email address, phone number and home address) so that it is not published online at any place.

Choose your plan will be seen here. Simply click on the “Select” button in the plan of your choice: How to choose the right hosting plan for your blog process (Bluehost screenshot)….

As I said earlier, I recommend choosing the Choice Plus plan, so you can get the domain privacy feature, which will protect your personal information online, but before any of these plans start your blog.

You can add domain privacy later during the payment process for about $ 1 / month. Choose the domain name of your blog. You will then arrive at a page where it is time to choose the domain name for your blog.

How to start a blog –  (step 3, screenshot of Bluehost) and create an account. Once you reach this step in the payment process, simply type the domain name you prefer for your blog (mine is ryrob.com).

If the domain name of your choice is not available, you can try another option that you can think of or (what I recommend) to delete the rest of your account later and take a little bit.

Then choose the option to choose your domain name . Think the name through more time. Also, a little later (right here) in this guide, we talk more about choosing the right name for your blog if you haven’t decided yet.

Here you can click to select your domain later (this is a pop-up window that will appear on this page for a long time, or you can move the mouse to the top of the page).

If you can’t decide how to choose a domain name for your blog later. After choosing your domain name or choosing it later, you will be taken to the last step of the registration process: create your account.

Create your Bluehost account

Complete your account details, such as your name, email address (this is the most important to use an updated email address, since this is where the login details and account information will be sent) and complete the address.

If you don’t want to enter your information manually, you can connect your Bluehost account to your Google account. Either one works! Choose the right hosting package.

This is where you choose an account plan based on the account you want to block and how much you will pay in advance. Screenshot of how to choose the details of your package and the hosting period (how to create a blog).

Please note that Bluehost only offers you the option to pay 1, 2, 3 or 5 years. They do not offer a monthly payment option (because most hosting companies that make monthly payments charge a little more).

However, whatever plan you choose, price is a good business to start your blog and get it online today.

What pricing plan is better to start a blog?

Personally, I recommend that you choose “Prime 36 Month Price” if you want to get the lowest possible price for your hosting. This is what I use and keep your blog at its lowest rate and provides domain privacy) for the next 3 years.

And because this reduced price for new customers only applies to the first payment you make, if you opt for a 1-year plan, your price may increase after that first year.

That is why if you choose a 36 month plan, its price will be locked at this rate for 3 years. For this reason, I recommend going with the longer term plan that may arise for your budget.

Choose the appropriate additional packages (leave all but one). Choose the appropriate additional packages with hosting when you start a blogI recommend maintaining additional domain privacy protection.

But you can skip the rest. Later in this guide to start a blog, I will show you several free and cheap add-ons and tools that you can use for things like SEO optimization, most of these packages do not require extras.

As I mentioned earlier, but all your personal contact information (your name, email, phone number and address) remains private due to the addition of domain privacy.

Now, if you selected the Choice Plus plan on the previous screen, the privacy protection of your domain will appear as “free”, as shown in the screenshot above, is included in that plan.

If you have chosen a basic or Choose plus plan, you must check the box to add domain privacy protection to your order for approximately 1 dollar / month. What you will see now is the total amount you will pay today.

However, remember that you will not have to pay again for 1, 2, 3 or 5 years, depending on the package you choose. Also, if your blog does not work as planned, there is a 30-day money back guarantee.

Enter your billing information

The last step to start a blog example (screenshot of payment information). You will now enter your billing information, check the box that accepts the Bluehost Terms of Service and then click on the green “Submit” button.

You have completed the first important step to officially start a blog. Once the initial registration process is complete, it is time to move on to the next step to completely configure and optimize your blog.

Click here to go to the front of Bluehost and if you have not yet entered your domain. On the next page, you will be guided step by step through the process of installing WordPress on your blog through Bluehost, and later in this guide.

I found a lot of useful tips to optimize your blog. Hai, free and cheap add-ons that you can install to help make your blog look great, and more. How to choose the correct name for your blog?

I receive many questions from readers about how to name a blog correctly, so I wanted to touch it a little more here. If you’re still not sure what your blog name is, don’t be afraid.

When you start with a hosting company like Bluehost, they will allow you to choose a domain name later. As I said earlier, if you don’t immediately see the domain names that you want to be available, don’t hang up.

Just choose to have them later, select it later after everything is set up (remember, Performance is what you are doing here, not perfection).

But because this is one of the most frequent questions I receive from readers who are learning how to start a blog, dig for a moment …

Now, although the name you choose is one of the most important parts of your blog settings. Remember that this is something that can always change in the future, so don’t let this step come back to you.

Simply choose something about what you plan to blog, or you can take yourname.com or yournickname.com (as I did with my blog here, ryrob.com) and move on.

The name of your blog is the first thing people see when you appear in the search results and can often tell you who you are, what you are writing and even your personality.

As I said, there are many ways to create a name for your blog (you can also use your own name, or a nickname like mine). So go through some fun exercises to choose a name for when you’re learning to start a blog.

First, dig deep into your niche and discover why you decided to start a blogTo learn how to get information about a blog, the first thing you should do is familiarize yourself with others in your industry (if you have not already done so).

For example, if you want to start a blog about hiking. And live in the state of California … a name you might consider for your blog is lethikecalifornia.com. Check out other blogs in your niche and pay special attention to how they are named and qualified.

Is there anything you can learn, play or break? Don’t just think about the biggest bloggers in your niche. But look for fresh inspiration and the things that are in front of you.

You can also get out of your niche a little and look for words that some of your favorite companies use. I like to call him looking for “good words.” What words attract you? Make a list of them.

Then, identify the message you want to deliver by choosing to start a blog. You are learning to start a blog for a reason, and your blog can have a powerful name that is at the center of your desire.

When choosing a blog niche, return to your list. And drill down to represent the main message you are trying to communicate. As Nate Wenner, the founder of Pocket declared.

The first question you should ask yourself is why do you want to change the brand: What does your company and product mean? Where do you want to take it in the future?

Does your current or new name allow you to do this? This may seem like a great question, but it won’t paralyze you. A great name means, but there are many good ones that are simply fun and memorable.

Now put yourself in the place of your reader: You have made some good arguments, but now is the time to take seriously. Think about the general theme of your future blog and who is your ideal reader.

What do you want to study? What is happening to get your attention? What do they have to tell them to read your blog? Start with a list of everything you want about your blog.

Go away There are no bad thoughts here. Once you find a huge list, start looking for connections and connections that may work. Try to keep them simple and memorable.

Some good examples of blog names are:

  • Virility art
  • Smart Passive Income
  • Epicure
  • Huffington post
  • Learn to code with me

Finally, say the name of your blog out loud and tell others and choosing a domain name to represent it) it is easy to get involved in a fun pun. When it comes to choosing a blog name and choosing a domain name.

But it should still be easy enough for people to remember and tell their friends about you. To practice, say the name out loud and to friends and family. What do they think about it? What feelings does this bring you?

They may not be your ideal readers, but they can still give you an external vision. And if you’re still struggling to find a new name for your blog, try one of these domain name generators to help you find some more creative ideas to name your blog today. It can help.

Get your blog online (Web Hosting)

Get your blog online with web hosting (step by step tutorial). The final step in the configuration phase of learning how to start a blog is to really put your blog online. What will these hosting companies (like Bluehost) do for you?

If you followed step 1 and completed step 1 as I showed you, then you already have the web hosting set up for your blog. You can go directly to step 3 and continue this tutorial.

However, if you want to use a web hosting provider that is not Bluehost to ensure the name and domain of your blog, you must configure it before continuing. Again, I don’t want this to be overwhelming, so let’s understand the basics.

What is web hosting?

I touched this a bit in step # 1 above, but to make your website accessible to other people on the Internet, you are a “host.” The host keeps all files on your website secure and ensures that people can access you.

Blogs when they click on a link or write their URL. I use and recommend Bluehost for each blogger, as it serves as a one-stop shop for excellent (economical) web hosting of your domain name and quick and easy registration in a jiffy.

And if you’ve already followed everything in step 1, you’ll have Bluehost installed as your web hosting provider, so you won’t have to worry about everything.

As I said, if you have already completed the step. And configured with Bluehost, you can skip this step! You have already received your domain name and the accommodation is gone.

Think of web hosting as if it were your home. When someone (enter your URL) arrives, you can see everything stored inside. Yes, it has a cost that you don’t have if you are on a free blogging platform.

But hosting a suitable website is one of the most important investments to start a successful blog. What are the best web hosting services to use?

There are many excellent web hosting services for your blog. Regardless of which one you choose, what to look for in a web hosting company:

  • 1. Speed
  • 2. Features
  • 3. Security
  • 4. Cooperation
  • 5. Track record

The service I have found is that the best control of all these boxes (and more) for new bloggers is Bluehost. Yes, I know that I have mentioned them many times in this guide as my preferred web hosting company, and this is for a very good reason.

On the one hand, Bluehost offers a simple installation of WordPress with 1 click, which makes starting a self-hosted WordPress blog very easy. It also comes with a free domain name (if your desired URL is available).

And provides 24/7 support to help answer all your questions and solve problems (which is fantastic when it starts). If you are committed to learning how to start a blog that can eventually make money (the way I recommend you do it).

Then nothing gives you the security, features and peace of mind that your blog will be like Bluehost when you need it. That said, another web hosting provider that is worth considering for new bloggers.

Best alternative blog hosting platforms worth considering

Dreamhost: I have hosted (and still do) dozens of websites on Dreamhost over the years. The same features, such as 1-click WordPress installations, free SSL certificates and site security.

One of Dreamhost’s biggest advantages compared to other hosting companies is that they offer a true monthly payment plan that allows you to pay each month The cost of your blog without conditions.

Here are some other web hosting companies that also offer monthly payment plans. Namecheap: What differentiates Namecheap from other hosting companies is its domain market.

You can still register a new domain name with them, but if you also get thousands of domain names that have already been registered and are now for sale, it is often a good way to get a site to skip.

There are some existing domain authorities. for. Start your ability to rank content in search engines. If you still want to evaluate more of the leading blog hosting providers, proceed to my breakdown of the top ten web hosting plans for bloggers this year.

We are now at the point of this guide where everything from the outside will be built assuming that you have already registered your domain name and have chosen the appropriate hosting plan. So if you have not already done so, just take a few minutes to quickly configure the bluehost.

Design your blog with a free WordPress theme

How to start a blog with a free WordPress theme (tutorial). Now that you have passed the first phase, it is time to move on to the fun part of starting a blog.

The design of your WordPress blog is when you can begin to feel a little abrasive with the process of starting a blog (if you have never done it before), but I promise it is not very technical.

Also … the last thing I want is for the very modest technical part of starting a blog to derail its progress today. Therefore, in my free course How to create a blog in 7 days.

I divide this technical configuration process into an even more actionable step-by-step checklist for you. Do you want my free course: how to start a profitable blog in 7 days?

Enter your name and email address and you will get instant access to my course for Forbes, Business Insider and Entrepreneur. If you want to start a blog and earn money with it.

Then WordPress is your only smart option. First let’s quickly extract a basic terminology, so you can understand why WordPress is the right platform to run your blog.

What is the CMS?

A content management system (or CMS) is where you want to write, design and publish your blog post. A good CMS (like WordPress) is easy to use, organizes its content, uploads images and videos.

And takes control of how your entire blog uses custom themes or design elements. The most popular CMS I have probably heard is WordPress, which I use here in my blog.

In fact, the latest blog statistics show that more than 60% of blogs run on this CMS, including the Forbes, New York Observer, TED, Thought Catalog, TechCrunch, NBC and others websites.

Should I start a blog in WordPress? And is wordpress free? Of course, there are other CMS options that you can see, such as Squarespace, Ghost and Wix when learning to start a blog.

However, I recommend setting up a self-hosted WordPress site for your blog, as it is the most sustainable and long-term solution. And really the only option worth considering is if you want to make money with your own money.

Blogs are starting a website with the ultimate goal, in some way, form or form. Since I learned to start a blog, I am running my blog in WordPress (hosted with Bluehost during the first years).

And I could not be happier with the amount of flexibility, control and potential for long-term growth. In my blog.. Now, one thing to be careful about is that WordPress comes on two different platforms.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org. They have almost the same name, but there are big differences between the two. Comparison chart of WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org when choosing to start a blog.

WordPress.com

  • It is free to use (with strong restrictions)
  • You do not have permission to choose a custom domain name
  • (That is, yourite.wordpress.com)
  • There are very limited demonetization options (you cannot sell your own ads)
  • You do not have permission to upload add-ons (for capturing email and other things)
  • Limited theme support, so you are stuck with the very original design
  • You have to pay to remove the WordPress brand and get your own domain, like yoursite.com
  • SEO and limited analysis

WordPress.org:

  • Fully customizable design, unlimited and unbranded add-on options
  • Total control over your own monetization efforts
  • Powerful SEO functions (so people can easily find your site)
  • Let us start or add an e-commerce store or membership site
  • Small monthly fee (from the web hosting company you choose to host your blog).

While the choice is yours, if you want to make the most of your blog, you may be able to grow with you and, finally, make money with it, WordPress.org is a way you can learn how to start a blog (and the process that you have done up to this point).

This is the CMS of choice that will empower your blog by sitting in the background. Also, with cheap hosting plans from companies like Bluehost and Dreamhost.

You can launch your blog with the power to install WordPress in just a few minutes using your WordPress installation tool with just one click after registering.

How to set up WordPress: And publish your first blog post. Here is a new step on how to install WordPress on your new blog and configure the correct settings. We also cover the publication of your first publication.

Naturally in this video, we haven’t covered everything about WordPress, but remember that these are the basics that you must complete first. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the backend of your blog.

Explore, see things. Develop a much deeper understanding of how WordPress works and how you can quickly change the appearance of your site. This is when the fun really begins.
